I watched Banshees of Inisherin last night for the first time so I am now all caught up on his filmography. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">I think it was that it&#8217;s his first fully-Ireland set film and so it like, returned to what I remember about those early plays which was: what if we take the world of rural Irish Stereotypes but populate it with characters who are a combination of any\/all: 1. naive &#8220;Friendly Irishmen&#8221; 2. absolutely miserable 3. about ten seconds away from an explosion of violence at any given time? <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">And then sell that to an international audience that probably includes a lot of Americans who are &#8220;Irish&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">I am not entirely sure what to do with the opening and closing shots, aerial (drone, probably) swooping across the landscape and its division into little chunks by the stone walls.
